At some point we have to do as referenced in the song by Jill Scott, we have to live our lives like it’s golden. Stop the madness of wondering how other folks are living. What they’re doing and how they’re doing it! We’ve got to forget about trying to “keep up with the Jonses” and start keeping abreast of how we’re keeping up. I’m not so much concerned these days about how other people think I should be. As Bon Jovi sings it, “It’s my life!” Wake up and stop brown nosing into other people lives. I don’t care if you’re friend, frenemy, family, or workplace buddies, leave other folks business alone unless asked to participate in some tiny part of their existence, steer clear.
Recently, I came upon office politics of gossip where vicious tongues were all up in some other person’s business. Although I’m no stranger to hearing this type of rhetoric, I’m getting sick and tired of the people bashing syndrome. I suppose it’s a part of human nature, but, jealousy & vindictiveness has no place in my world of ‘live and let live.’ As we age, we reach a pennacle of not tolerating certain intolerable behaviors, so those backstabbers, vicious gossip mongers and speculators need not pen/spew/regurgitate their madness in my direction. Can’t we get off the bandwagen, be true to ourselves and forget trying to be like Mike?
Heck, we are enough just the way we are. It’s time to put aside the ole green eyed monsters that hover beneath the surface of our existence, encouraging loose tongues, spewing jealousy, envy and discontent. Let’s concentrate upon loving ourselves and respecting other people boundaries. I’m so far from worrying about keeping up with the Joneses, or the Kardashians for that matter! It’s just not that serious to me. Life is about living it to the fullest and enjoying the possibilities!
Wouldn’t you agree? I mean, even Rodney King beaten to a pulp by those hired to serve and protect begged to ask the question”Can’t we all just get along?!”
