The mantra in the blogosphere is “brand your blog” so that your networking with others in your genre and money making projects can flourish as will your name and areas of expertise. Starting clara54 in 2008 came about out of workplace frustration and a need to explore “midlife” passions that had lain dormant for many years.
In 2008, the realization that I was more than a label (nurse) forced me to explore my passion and purpose in the second phase of life! Starting clara54 became a turning point that would eventually venture into unchartered and amazing territories of; bloggers,celebrity gigs, interviews,profiles, online classes,writing opportunities for magazines and newspapers…The joy that come from showcasing the works of new creatives…
In 2010, the beat goes on. Initially clara54 told folks they would never know what they were going to get when visiting the site. No truer words have ever been written. Sometimes I don’t know what new something will spark my passion and appear as post for my readers! My open door policy allows other up & coming creatives to showcase their works and then there are those dang established folks asking to be included. How can I say no?!
Great Blog connections. Awesome conversations. Impromtu consultations. Community invites and a bit of profit making makes clara54 a wonderful place to be. I find myself loving this transition! Women of authenticity, passion ignites your purpose! And lest I forget. All of my Twitter friends? You’re an awesome bunch of creatives!!!

Clara, this is a good question for me today, because my blog seems to have quit growing by some accounts, and I’ve wondered if it’s because I cover too many topics. And yet, these are the topics I desire to cover, and I’ve organized them by days so that readers can identify the topics of of their choice. So, I think I’ve made an agreement with myself to be okay with however things go, so long as I’m writing the thoughts of my heart in a way that could touch even just one person. Because even though I don’t have a million followers, there are indications that I’m reaching the people who need my words, even if my audience is small. 🙂 I think my only dilemma in terms of numbers is whether it’s worth it, or if I could be these thoughts out there some other way that would be more beneficial to all? Since there are so many things we can’t control, though, I think just moving forward as I have been is the best way to go. Obviously I’m thinking out loud here today but it’s very relevant to me at this point in time, so thanks for giving me a chance to expound a bit. 🙂

Hi Roxane- First off, thanks for being the voice for what a lot of us in this business are questioning.We might not be getting the comments we want, but the question becomes What’s more important to us as writers/bloggers & entrepreneurs?
Comments are fine, don’t get me wrong. But ultimately, your reason for doing the work becomes more important. At clara54 I get up to 20 visits a day and few comments, but my work is absolutely reaching someone!… From reading your blog, I know I can relate to your purpose and I know intuitively, you’re reaching the right people!
Stay the course, my friend and you’ll see the results that your readers see in your blog’s passion and purpose…just keep doing “You”:)

I just recently started my blog because I am at home with my two young children and I wanted to have something to do that I enjoy. It is certainly good to do something you are passionate about. I think it is wonderful that your blog has taken you to such a wonderful place!

I think many people read blogs, but never comment. We don’t really know how many people read our words and what they gained from it unless they find a way to tell us. I like how you said that if we follow our passion, we will be fulfilled. I am very happy with my blog. It’s a great creative outlet for me and I believe that I am spreading good and inspiration out into a broken world.

I’m happy with your blog as I’m sure all of your loyal readers are! Many people who visit our blogs, read our works and leave, without ever commenting, just as you say. That doesn’t mean they haven’t gain insights or left with the intent to return or pass the word along!

I am happy with both my blogs. Now that I FINALLY have a focus for business, it makes writing topics much easier.
As for Shorty, my community blog, I’m OK with where it is even though people don’t comment. I was getting upset because people were not commenting. My monthly readership ranges from 700 to 2000 views. Can I really be mad? I’m living my purpose which is to share information with others. And, honestly, what if half those people left messages? I wouldn’t be able to manage them right now anyway. So, I’m good.
Long story short – I’m good.
